Christmas tree lights not working

December 1 each year i plug them in and set the timer for dusk to 8 hours later. Inspecting it closer i found it was half a string precisely. Like i do every year i got work with my light keeper pro if you have a pre lit tree and don t have a light keeper pro you should get one now it has saved so many lights over the years. The best option is to use either an electrician s multimeter or a tool specifically designed for repairing christmas lights. It is 2 yrs old. As i am lazy i keep our outdoor christmas lights up all year. This year however a bunch of the bulbs did not light up right in the middle of them all as my wife quickly informed me. With the lights plugged in use the voltage detector to check the live voltage wire between each light starting at the end that plugs into the wall outlet. The fist step is to find the led that is no longer working. If a fuse is black or has a broken wire inside gently pry out the blown fuse with a thin screwdriver. If this is your problem carefully replace the bulb after first unplugging the string of lights. Corrosion on the plug prongs adds resistance that may prevent the necessary voltage from flowing through the light string. You may find that the bulb has a black or silver looking stain on the inside. The non working led will obviously be in the string half that is not working. Anyway i did manage to get some lights working with the light keeper pro and i replaced as many burned out lights as i had replacements on hand.
